Russian experts will visit Algeria in preparation for the localization of production of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in the Arab country, Russian Ambassador to Algeria Igor Belyaev said.
Algerian Prime Minister Abdelaziz Jerrad received the Russian Ambassador on Sunday and expressed gratitude for Russia's willingness to supply the vaccine to Algeria.
"The two sides agreed to start contacts between the relevant authorities of the two countries to establish bilateral cooperation in the production of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V in Algeria," a press release issued to RIA Novosti said.
"Russian specialists will come to Algeria to inspect pharmaceutical plants. It will take six to nine months to produce the Russian vaccine in Algeria," Belyaev said.
The vaccination campaign began in Algeria on Saturday, using the Sputnik V vaccine.
