Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which Aliyev congratulated Putin on the registration of the Russian coronavirus vaccine, the Kremlin's press service reports.
The conversation was initiated by the Azerbaijani side.
"Topical issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed. The parties confirmed thier mutual intention to further strengthen the Russian-Azerbaijani partnership in all areas. Ilham Aliyev congratulated Vladimir Putin on the registration of the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus infection, " the message reads.
The two leaders exchanged views on regional issues in the context of the aggravation of the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border in July. Putin stressed the importance of avoiding any actions that contribute to the escalation of tension.
Before that, congratulatory messages were sent to Putin by the heads of Kazakhstan-Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Argentina-Alberto Fernandez and Palestine-Mahmoud Abbas. The President of Moldova Igor Dodon has congratulated the Russian Ambassador.
