Aliyev established Victory Day in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to designate September 27 as the Day of Remembrance of the victims in Karabakh and November 10 as Victory Day in the republic, the press service of the Azerbaijani leader said.


"Every year on September 27 Azerbaijan will mark the Day of Remembrance. The corresponding order was signed by President Ilham Aliyev," the press service reported.


By another decree of the head of state "Victory Day will be celebrated in the Republic of Azerbaijan every year on November 10", the press service added.


The hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh resumed on September 27. Baku and Yerevan introduced martial law and accused each other of attacking civilians. The victims of the escalating conflict were both military and civilians on both sides. On the night of November 10, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a ceasefire and military operations agreement in Karabakh with Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Russia and Vladimir Putin.


According to the document, Baku and Yerevan stop at occupied positions and part of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh passes under Azerbaijani control. The Agdam district was officially handed over to Baku on November 20, the Kelbajar district on November 25 and the Lachin district on December 1, the last one.
