Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry has announced that an agreement has been reached to temporarily suspend anti-terrorist activities in Karabakh starting from September 20 at 12:00 Moscow time.
"The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan announces that, in response to an appeal from representatives of the Armenian residents of Karabakh, conveyed through the Russian peacekeeping contingent, an agreement has been reached to temporarily suspend localized anti-terrorist activities, starting from September 20, 2023, at 13:00 local time [12:00 Moscow time]," the statement reads.
The defense ministry's report outlines the conditions for the suspension of anti-terrorist measures. It states that "Armenian Armed Forces and illegal Armenian armed groups situated in the Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan must cease hostilities, vacate their combat positions and military posts, and undergo complete disarmament. Armenian Armed Forces units must withdraw from Azerbaijani territory, and illegal Armenian armed groups must be disbanded." Furthermore, the terms stipulate that "simultaneously, all weaponry and heavy equipment must be surrendered."
"The execution of these procedures is carried out in close coordination with the Russian peacekeeping contingent," the ministry clarified.
