The Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan proposed that the government of Azerbaijan should address the OSCE leadership to withdraw France from the co-chairs of the Minsk Group of that organization. The statement of the legislative body adopted on Thursday in response to a resolution of the French Senate calling on the government to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh's independence, reads.

"The Milli Majlis calls on the Azerbaijani government to appeal to the OSCE leadership to withdraw France, which has questioned its neutrality with its position and statements in recent days, from among the Co-Chairs of the Minsk Group," reads the document,  the majority of MPs voted for.

The statement also contains proposals "to review the existing political relations between Azerbaijan and France", as well as "to deeply analyze economic ties between the two countries and take appropriate measures".

During discussions at the Milli Majlis session on Thursday, a number of MPs also made proposals to recall Azerbaijan's ambassador to Paris for consultations, stop  all relations with the upper house of the French parliament.

Last Wednesday, the French Senate adopted a resolution calling on the government to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh. The document was voted for by 305 French senators out of 306 participants of the session. As experts explained, the resolution is of recommendatory nature and is not binding for the government.

In turn, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry considered the adoption of the resolution as a provocation and stressed that it has no legal force.
