Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have agreed in the future to prevent any provocative actions on the common border section. This was reported Friday by the Border Guard Service of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security (SCNS).
"Border officials of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have agreed to prevent provocative actions to destabilize the situation on the joint border. The parties agreed to protect the state border with regular border patrols," reads the statement.
During a day, there were two shootings between border guards on the border of the two countries, including on the night of March 11.
"During the meeting, the Kyrgyz side claimed that the night time shooting was provoked by the Tajik military and showed the part of the Batken - Isfara highway in the area of Eki Tash, where the soldiers of the Border Troops of the SCNS of Tajikistan threw stones at the cars of the Kyrgyz citizens," the Border Patrol Service notes.
In turn, the Tajik side assured that its soldiers were not involved in throwing stones at the cars. "According to the Tajik party's version, these were unknown citizens, and their search is already under way," the report emphasizes.
It specifies that at present the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section is "characterized as stable".
