Moscow hopes that the UAE and Bahrain agreements with Israel will lead to peace and will not harm the Palestinian-Israeli settlement. This was announced on September 16 by the President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

"If this leads to a comprehensive peace in the Middle East and the settlement of all problems, including the solution of the Palestinian problem, then, of course, this is good, "RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Bogdanov noted that the Russian side was assured that both Bahrain and the Emirates are committed to the Arab peace initiative and the solution of the Palestinian problem on the principle of "two states for two peoples" within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. At the same time, Bogdanov called for evaluating the agreement itself by its consequences.

"Because this is, on the one hand, a question of a sovereign decision, on the one hand. On the other hand, so that it does not harm the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on a well-known international legal basis," he said.

On the eve, Bahrain and the UAE signed agreements with Israel on the normalization of relations. The documents were signed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
