BRICS Countries Call for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza

23 October

The BRICS member states have called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the unconditional release of all hostages. This is outlined in the Kazan Declaration, adopted at the conclusion of the BRICS summit.

“We emphasize the urgent need for the immediate establishment of a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the unconditional and immediate release of all hostages and detainees held illegally by both sides, and the unhindered, sustained, and large-scale delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, as well as the cessation of any aggressive actions,” the document states.

The leaders also urged full compliance with United Nations Security Council resolutions. They commended ongoing efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and other parties involved in the peace process aimed at facilitating an immediate ceasefire, speeding up humanitarian aid deliveries, and withdrawing Israeli forces from Gaza.

“We reaffirm our deep concern over the escalating violence and humanitarian crisis in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the unprecedented surge of violence in Gaza and the West Bank due to Israel's military operations, which have resulted in mass civilian casualties, forced displacement, and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure,” the BRICS leaders emphasized, urging all parties to abide by international law.
