The award ceremony for doctors fighting the coronavirus infection was held on Thursday at the Moscow Cathedral mosque. As noted by mufti Ravil Gainutdin, chairman of the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, clergy and medical professionals work closely together for a common goal.

"This interaction is based on good in the name of healing the body and soul, assistance based on respect, mutual aid, charity, and is strongly linked to the fundamental principles of Islam. A year ago, we decided to create a Committee for interaction with health authorities, which conducts creative activities within the framework of the public council of the RMC and the Religious Board of the Russian Federation," the press service of the RMC quotes Gainutdin.

He noted that in the context of the pandemic, the doctor's profession has become a symbol of selfless work and heroism. "At a time when the whole world was in self - isolation, you - doctors of different nationalities and faiths - left your homes, your families, sometimes unable even to hear the voices of their relatives and friends, put on protective suits and heroically were and are still in the "red zone" in the name of saving human lives, " Gainutdin said.

The mufti recalled that the coronavirus also affected the Russian clergy. "The mufti of Ingushetia left us, the mufti of Karachay-Cherkessia was barely saved, the mufti of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Dagestan and the Volga region were seriously ill," he said and thanked medical workers for their selfless work and struggle to save the lives of patients.
