The chief of the General staff of the Russian armed forces, General Valery Gerasimov, held telephone talks with his Turkish counterpart,  General Yashar Guler, on Wednesday. This was reported to journalists in the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The parties discussed the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic and the current situation in Libya, as well as issues of interaction between the military departments of the two countries," the report said.

The heads of the General staff regularly hold talks on security issues, including the situation in Syria. In particular, in February, in a telephone conversation, they discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda of the military departments of Russia and Turkey concerning the situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
