Elbrus Kutrashev Becomes Russia’s New Ambassador to Iraq

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Russian diplomat Elbrus Kutrashev as Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Iraq. The relevant decree of the President was published on Thursday on the official legal information portal.

 

“Appoint Elbrus Kutrashev as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Iraq”, the documents states.

 

Another decree relieved Maksim Maksimov of his ambassadorial post in that country.

 

Elbrus Kutrashev was born in 1970. In different years, he worked at the Central Office of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Russian diplomatic missions in Iraq and Syria. He holds a number of state awards, including the Medal for Courage and the Medals of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland, First and Second Degrees.
