Turkey does not intend to enter into any war, this is part of the election campaign of Turkish incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He spoke about his plans in an interview with A Haber TV on Wednesday.

"First, we (the ruling Justice and Development Party - TASS) will not lead our country into war. Second, we will preserve the institution of the family. Third, we will be more sensitive about immigration, mostly from Syria. We will not feed the migrants. If it were not for us, the Western club would have dragged Turkey into a war zone," the head of state said, referring to the policies he and his party intend to pursue if they win the upcoming elections.

Turkey's presidential elections will be held on May 14, along with the parliamentary elections. The presidential contender must get more than 50% of the vote to win in the first round. Otherwise, there will be a second round, attended by the two candidates who received the greatest support in the first. The previous presidential election was held on June 24, 2018. Erdogan then won with 52.6% of the vote.

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, chairman of the Republican People's Party, and Turkey's incumbent president are considered to be the main contenders this time.
