Erdogan thanks Putin for his contribution to Akkuyu NPP construction

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan thanked Russian leader Vladimir Putin during telephone talks for his contribution to the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in the south of the republic.

 

"President Erdogan thanked Russian President Putin for his contribution to the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant, where the ceremony to deliver nuclear fuel will be held today," the Turkish leader's office told reporters.

 

The Turkish president's office confirmed that he spoke with Putin by phone and published a photo of Erdogan in his office during the conversation. The office also said that the Turkish and Russian presidents discussed the situation in Ukraine, the grain deal and the creation of a working group to resolve the Ukrainian crisis over the phone. 

 

The Turkish leader's office told reporters that the conversation addressed issues related to the Russian special military operation and "work within the framework of the grain agreement." "President Erdogan said that new initiatives may emerge within the framework of a working group that is proposed to be created," the office noted. The interlocutors also discussed recent developments in Syria.

 

Putin in his conversation with Erdogan wished him well, the office noted.
