FSB prevented terrorist acts at the facilities of the Baltic Fleet

The FSB has detained a resident of Kaliningrad who was planning acts of sabotage and terrorism at the facilities of the Baltic Fleet and at Khrabrovo Airport on instructions from the terrorist organization Azov, which is banned in Russia. This was reported to TASS on Thursday in the Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the Federal Security Service of Russia.


"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation on the territory of the Kaliningrad region prevented a terrorist act at military and transport infrastructure facilities in the region. As a result of the measures taken in Kaliningrad, a local resident, a citizen of the Russian Federation, born in 1967, an adherent of the international terrorist organization Azov banned on the territory of Russia, who nurtured the intentions to commit acts of sabotage and terrorism against the facilities of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy and military personnel, as well as against the Khrabrovo airport, was detained," the CPR reported.


An improvised explosive device with a capacity of about 5 kg of TNT was found in his cache, the detainee confessed. He said that he was supposed to blow up the facility in Pereiaslav.


As noted in the FSB, he was planning to commit an act of sabotage and terrorism in a neighboring state on the instructions of the Azov coordinators in Ukraine. Components for making improvised explosive devices were also found in a cache at his residence; in addition, his correspondence with active members of Azov, exposing his criminal intentions, propaganda literature and symbols of the banned organization, was found.


The investigative division of the FSB of Russia initiated a criminal case under part 1 of article 30 of part 1 of article 205 (preparation of preparation for the crime). 1 Article 205 (preparation for an act of terrorism), part 1 Article 223.1 (illegal weapons manufacture) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Operational-investigative activities and investigative actions are continuing.
