Iran: Election of Sinwar as Hamas Leader Signals Israel's Future Loss

07 August

Iran's Lieutenant General Abdolrahim Mousavi has stated that the election of Yahya Sinwar as the new head of the Hamas political bureau signifies a chosen path that will deny Israel any future prospects. Mousavi praised Sinwar as a leading freedom fighter of Palestine.

"The appointment of Yahya Sinwar demonstrates the course chosen by the Palestinians and Hamas," Mousavi said. "This election signifies that the Zionist regime (referring to Israel - TASS) should have no hope for the future." He compared the Israeli government to wild tribes, stating that even "savages followed some norms", whereas Israel disregards international laws and regulations.

Mousavi warned that all actions, including the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, "would be met with a severe response."

Sinwar, who replaced the deceased Haniyeh, is known for his role in founding Hamas's military wing, the  Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, and the Majd internal security organization.
