Iranian MFA: parties may soon agree on new round of nuclear deal talks

01 August 2022

The participants in the negotiation process of the nuclear deal may soon agree to hold a new round of talks, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said at a press conference on Monday.

"It is likely that in the near future we will be able to agree on a time frame for the negotiations and witness a new negotiating round," he said. The diplomat added that "the solution depends on the will of the opposing side, in particular the US".

In June, Qatar hosted indirect talks between the US and Iran on restoring the nuclear deal. After that, Enrique Mora, the coordinator of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear deal and Political Director of the European External Action Service, said that the parties in Doha had failed to achieve the progress they had hoped for. At the same time, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian positively assessed the new round of negotiations.
