Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has accepted an invitation from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to visit Riyadh. This was confirmed Monday by Mohammad Mokhber, the republic's first-vice president.

"King Salman invited the president [of Iran to visit Riyadh], this invitation has been accepted," he was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency. The vice-president did not give any information about the date of the proposed visit.

Mokhber also stressed that establishing good relations with neighboring countries "is one of the main strategies" of the current Iranian government.

On March 19, it became known that the king of Saudi Arabia invited the president of Iran to visit Riyadh. Mohammad Jamshidi, the deputy head of the Iranian presidential administration for political affairs, told Tasnim that Raisi welcomed the Saudi monarch's invitation.

On March 10, Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to restore diplomatic relations and reopen embassies within two months. Representatives of the two countries negotiated for several days in Beijing, which resulted in a trilateral statement.
