Iran's President: Western Arms Supplies to Kiev Authorities Are Prolonging the Conflict in Ukraine

21 September 2023

Arms deliveries by Western countries to the authorities in Kiev are prolonging the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi at a press conference in New York.

"Ukraine is receiving weaponry from NATO countries. Those who profit from the conflict are not interested in its resolution," he stated.

Previously, during a speech at the Eastern Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin had remarked that the introduction of new weaponry to Ukraine, such as cluster munitions and depleted uranium ammunition, would not alter the frontline situation but would merely extend the conflict. He highlighted the irony that "the US administration had previously characterized the use of cluster munitions as a war crime, only to now publicly provide such munitions to the conflict in Ukraine."
