Israel Strikes Damascus and Aleppo Airports

12 October 2023

Israel has reportedly launched airstrikes targeting the runways at Damascus and Aleppo airports, causing damage and halting their operations, according to reports by the Al Watan newspaper.

It is noted that air defense systems are active near the international airport in Damascus.

Syrian television has confirmed the strikes.

The Israel Defense Forces have not commented on the situation. Additionally, Israeli TV Channel 13 reported that an Iranian cargo plane en route to Syria, allegedly carrying weapons, turned around after the airstrike. These attacks have disrupted the services at both airports, with damage to their runways, as reported by SANA, Syria's state news agency.

"The Israeli enemy's aggression represents a desperate attempt to divert attention from the crimes it is committing in the Gaza Strip and the substantial losses it is incurring at the hands of the Palestinian resistance," stated an unnamed source, according to the agency.
