Israel signed agreements on Tuesday to normalize relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, a ceremony was held in Washington on the White House lawn in the presence of US President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and several dozen guests.
The documents were signed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Bahrain Abdullatif b Al Zayani.
Three copies of the documents were prepared in Hebrew, Arabic and English. Trump, through whose mediation the agreements were reached, signed the English-language versions.
In addition, Trump, Netanyahu and the Foreign Ministers of the UAE and Bahrain separately signed four copies of the "Abraham agreements" (in English, Hebrew and two in Arabic).
Israel and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to fully normalize relations under the so-called Abraham Agreement, which was brokered by the United States. Under the terms of the deal, Israel will temporarily postpone a decision to extend its sovereignty to territories in the West Bank.
Later, Bahrain reached an agreement.
The Palestinian leadership has declared its strong rejection and condemnation of these agreements.
Until now, only two Arab countries - Egypt and Jordan - have recognized Israel.
