Russian President's Special Representative for Afghanistan and Director of the Second Asian Department of the Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov said he would discuss in Doha with representatives of the Qatari political office of the Taliban (banned in Russia) the Taliban's territorial captures in Afghanistan.
"We will discuss this in Doha," he said in response to a related question.
Also, according to the diplomat, the Taliban may seize new centers of Afghanistan's provinces, but the situation on the ground will inevitably come to a balance. "Yes, they have taken two provincial administrative centers, they may take more, but there will inevitably be a balance anyway," he said.
On Friday, the Taliban captured the capital of the Iranian-bordering province of Nimroz, the city of Zaranj. On Saturday, the movement's fighters occupied Shiberghan, the administrative center of Jawzjan province in northern Afghanistan.
On August 11, in Doha, Kabulov will attend the next meeting of the expanded "troika" (Russia, the United States, China, and Pakistan) for a settlement in Afghanistan.
