Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is scheduled to visit Moscow on May 22, following an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, as reported by Bahrain's state-run BNA news agency.
During his visit, the king of Bahrain will engage in discussions with President Putin on bilateral cooperation, as well as international and regional issues. The agenda will also encompass the outcomes of the 33rd summit of the Arab League, held in Manama on May 16.
Following his visit to Russia, King Hamad bin Isa plans to travel to China, where he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to deliberate on bilateral relations, the results of the Arab League summit, and current global and regional developments. Additionally, the Bahraini monarch will participate in the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.
The recent Arab League summit focused on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the prospects for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Attended by the heads of 11 states, including Jordan's King, Qatar's Emir, and Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince, along with presidents from Egypt, Palestine, and Syria, the summit also welcomed the presence of UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
The invitation for King Hamad bin Isa's visit to Moscow was extended during a telephone conversation between the two leaders on September 30, 2022. During the call, they expressed mutual condemnation of the situation in Ukraine and the latest developments in the Middle East and North Africa, while reaffirming their commitments under the OPEC+ agreement.
