A batch of humanitarian aid in 35 railcars has been delivered from Russia to Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's press service told TASS on Tuesday.

"Thirty-five railcars with humanitarian aid from Russia have arrived for further distribution to the affected regions of Nagorno-Karabakh. This is the largest batch of cargo," the ministry said.

Nine railcars and five railway platforms have already been unloaded - more than 250 tons. They are 10 diesel generators, five fire brigade tank cars, four UAZ cars, 280 cubic meters of lumber and 35 thousand domestic appliances.

On September 27, the situation escalated in Nagorno-Karabakh and heavy fighting broke out in the disputed territory. On November 9, the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a joint statement on the full cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. The document provides for the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in the region.

On November 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on establishing an inter-agency center of the humanitarian response to Nagorno-Karabakh. The center includes representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Security Service and other relevant federal executive bodies. The Defense Ministry was entrusted with the solution of organizational issues. Russian rescuers arrived in the region on November 16.
