Lavrov and acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan discussed bilateral relations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of the Taliban (banned in Russia) formed government in Afghanistan, during which they discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries. The Russian MFA said in a statement on Thursday.

The sides also discussed the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and assistance to the reconstruction of the country.


The third ministerial conference of Afghanistan's neighboring countries is being held Thursday in Tunxi (Anhui Province, East China). On the margins of the event, there is a dialogue between the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighbors and the Taliban delegation, as well as another meeting of the expanded Troika on Afghanistan (Russia, China, the US and Pakistan) at the level of special representatives.
