Lavrov and Cavusoglu to discuss prospects for resuming talks between Moscow and Kiev on June 8

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will discuss with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu the current state of affairs in the Ukrainian crisis, as well as the prospects for resuming talks between Moscow and Kiev during a working visit to Ankara on June 8, the Russian diplomatic office said in a statement issued on Tuesday.


"The ministers will exchange views on the current state of affairs in the Ukrainian crisis and the prospects for the resumption of Russian-Ukrainian peace talks. The Russian side will inform its Turkish counterparts about the progress of the special military operation of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine and the steps being taken to ensure the safety of the peaceful population," Smolensk Square reported.


The Russian MFA noted that the ministers intend to consider the situation in the Transcaucasia, the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, as well as in the Black Sea region. Furthermore, Lavrov and Çavuşoğlu will discuss the substance of the upcoming international meeting on Syria, to be held in June in Nur-Sultan, and "assess the results of the eighth session of the inter-Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva from May 28 to June 4."
