Lavrov and OIC Secretary-General Call for Serious Negotiations on Gaza

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha advocated for the urgent initiation of serious negotiations to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This was highlighted in a statement released by the Russian diplomatic department following their meeting in Riyadh, which took place during the seventh ministerial meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between Russia and the Cooperation Council of Arab States of the Persian Gulf.

 

The discussion placed significant emphasis on the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. Both parties called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the launch of substantial negotiations aimed at achieving a comprehensive Middle East settlement, grounded in United Nations and UN Security Council resolutions.

 

Additionally, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further developing and strengthening cooperation between Russia and the OIC in various fields.
