Lavrov and Saudi Foreign Minister Discuss Hydrocarbon Market Cooperation

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held a meeting during the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. They discussed cooperation between their countries in the hydrocarbon market, the situation in Syria, and the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

"The ministers highlighted the stabilizing impact of the cooperation between Russia and Saudi Arabia in this strategically important sector on the global hydrocarbon market," the ministry stated.

 

The two ministers, as stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry, "engaged in discussions on pressing matters on the global and regional agenda, focusing on the evolving situation in Syria and the Palestinian-Israeli peace process." They also emphasized the significance of reestablishing Palestinian unity.

 

Smolenskaya Square underscored that the talks encompassed in-depth deliberations on key aspects of advancing mutually advantageous Russian-Saudi collaboration, in line with previously established high-level agreements. "The commitment to bolster foreign policy alignment between Moscow and Riyadh across diverse international forums was reaffirmed," stated the Foreign Ministry.
