The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran is set to be signed in the near future, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced during a plenary session at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
“A significant step in strengthening Russia-Iran relations will be the forthcoming Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, which, as I mentioned, is on track to be signed soon,” Lavrov stated.
The agreement outlines a commitment by both nations to closer cooperation in defense and mutual efforts to foster peace and security on both regional and global scales. On October 23, at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russian President Vladimir Putin similarly mentioned the upcoming signing during his meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali previously indicated that the document would be finalized during an official visit by the Iranian president to Russia.
