Lavrov confirmed to the Syrian opposition Russia's readiness to promote dialogue within the country

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the settlement in the Republic at a meeting in Moscow with representatives of the Syrian opposition and confirmed Russia's readiness to promote inter-Syrian dialogue, the Russian Foreign Ministry notes.


As indicated in the document, Lavrov discussed with the co-chairman of the Executive Committee of the Council of democratic Syria, Ilham Ahmed, and the leader of the Popular front for change and liberation, Qadri Jamil, issues of the Syrian settlement, in particular, the achievement of inter-Syrian agreements based on UN Security Council resolution 2254.


"Sergey Lavrov confirmed Russia's unwavering readiness to continue promoting inclusive and constructive inter-Syrian dialogue in the interests of restoring and strengthening the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of Syria as soon as possible, creating conditions for harmonious coexistence and development of all ethno - religious components of Syrian society," the message reads.


Representatives of the Syrian opposition also informed the Russian Foreign Minister about the Memorandum of understanding signed between the Council of democratic Syria and the Narodnaya Volya party following their contacts in Moscow.
