Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held meetings with Wang Yi, Director of the Office of the Chinese Central Foreign Affairs Commission, and Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi to discuss trilateral cooperation on food and energy security. The meetings took place on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) ministerial events in Jakarta.
They focused on enhancing trilateral cooperation to ensure food and energy security in light of the current crisis trends in global markets.
The Russian foreign ministry stated that the parties expressed their readiness to coordinate efforts in this area, with the aim of strengthening the economic sustainability of the Global South based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit in global economic relations.
The meetings also involved constructive exchanges of views on various international and regional issues. They addressed the importance of strengthening the ASEAN-centric security architecture and fostering cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi expressed their support for Indonesia's efforts as the chair of ASEAN in promoting these objectives during the upcoming ministerial meetings in Jakarta, particularly within the framework of the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN Regional Forum.
