Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held a phone conversation, discussing regional issues with a focus on the situation in Syria, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The two foreign ministers conducted a thorough exchange of views on a number of pressing regional issues, with a particular emphasis on the situation in Syria,” the statement said.
The ministry noted that both ministers reaffirmed their shared position on the need to unite the efforts of all responsible members of the international community to facilitate a swift political and diplomatic resolution to the crises threatening peace and stability in the Middle East.
Additionally, they discussed practical steps to further strengthen multifaceted Russia-Saudi relations, the ministry added.
