The Palestinian-Israeli conflict settlement process has dropped far back due to the clashes and unilateral measures taken by the two countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following Friday's talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Ankara.
"[The process of] settling relations between the Palestinians and Israel, unfortunately, has been pushed far back by many events: clashes, unilateral measures taken by both Palestinians and Israelis, which have now turned into very serious clashes, fraught with further aggravation of the situation," Lavrov said.
According to Lavrov, Russia "shares the need to return to the fundamental UN decisions on the principles on which direct dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis should take place in the format of the so-called two-state solution."
Lavrov also said he discussed Libyan developments with his Turkish counterpart. "After the country was destroyed by NATO's military aggression, the world community is struggling to put it back together again," he noted. - "Attempts have been made repeatedly by representatives of both the EU and regional countries. So far the process is not moving at the pace we would like to see."
The head of the Russian diplomacy noted that the goal of Russian and Turkish parties in this matter is the same: "to ensure the restoration of unity of all political forces in Libya, and on this basis to restore the ruined Libyan statehood."
