Lavrov Prioritizes Protection of Russians Abroad Amid Global Instability

14 February

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has underscored the importance of safeguarding the rights of Russian citizens overseas as an absolute priority for Russia, especially in light of the volatile global situation. He made this declaration during the government hour in the State Duma.

Lavrov emphasized, "The protection of the legal rights of Russian citizens abroad remains among our unconditional priorities. As you have seen, last year we also had to manage the evacuation of Russians from zones of existing potential crises and conflicts, and we must be prepared for this type of work on an ongoing basis, considering the unstable nature of the world, which is prone to new crises."

Previously, Lavrov had mentioned that Russia is continuing its efforts to facilitate the evacuation of Russian citizens from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. He reported that approximately  1,200 Russians and their family members, including citizens of other countries, have been evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
