Russia is ready to create conditions for settling territorial disputes between Greece and Turkey, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday at a press conference following talks with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendianos.

"We will be ready <...> in every way to create conditions for the settlement process," he said, noting that Russia is in favor of settling any disputes, including those between Greece and Turkey, on the basis of international law.

Lavrov also drew attention to the words of his Greek colleague that "someone may try to take advantage of the fact that all eyes are now turned to the other side, meaning Ukraine."

"In this case, you need to complain to your Western allies, because all eyes are turned to that clamor out of the blue, probably in an effort to promote their geopolitical interests," Lavrov said to the Greek minister.

In turn, commenting on Ankara's territorial claims, the Greek foreign minister said that Turkey's claims "are a pretext for all kinds of actions".

On Thursday, the Athens Macedonian News Agency, citing Greek diplomatic sources, reported that the Greek MFA voiced a protest to Turkey over statements questioning Greek sovereignty over islands in the Aegean Sea.
