Lavrov: Russia ready to consider meeting of Putin and Biden at G20 summit

11 October 2022

Russia is ready to discuss a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the G20 summit, should it be arranged, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday on the "60 Minutes" program on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

"We have repeatedly said that we never decline meetings. If we receive a proposal, then we will consider it," said the Russian foreign minister, responding to a question about the prospects of such a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

Lavrov said, "If everyone thinks that there is a signal from Biden that he is ready for such a meeting, such confidence is based only on his "we'll see" approach. "This is probably more for journalistic analytical speculation than for actual politics," he added.

The G20 summit is due to take place on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15-16.
