Lavrov says Russia is not alone; attempts to isolate it are doomed to failure

Russia is not alone in the world, attempts by the West to isolate it are doomed to failure, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday at a meeting with students and faculty at MGIMO.

"We are not at all alone, they are trying to isolate us, but these attempts are doomed to failure," he said.

The minister noted that the countries of Eurasia, Latin America and Africa are not at all satisfied with the Western diktat. "They are starting to understand very well what are the rules that the West is trying to impose on everyone and everything, and they want to return to the roots, to the very sovereign equality of states, on which the UN Charter is based and which implies respect for the civilizational, ethnic and religious diversity of the modern world," he pointed out. Lavrov recalled that 80 percent of the world's states have not joined the anti-Russian sanctions, despite "absolutely brazen pressure, blackmail, and threats," including personal threats against politicians in those countries.
