Lavrov: they are waging an information war against Russia using the methods of information terrorism

The West is waging an information war against Russia, it includes elements of information terrorism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday in an interview with the RT television channel.

"Substitution of theses, when something happens, such as mass demonstrations, protests, which they do not like, it is immediately branded as domestic terrorism. This is war. War uses methods of information terrorism. There is no doubt about it," he said.

According to Lavrov, the global information field is dominated by the American and British media and the Anglo-Saxon world in general. Russia occupies a modest place here, the minister said. "Another question is what is the quality of the information this Western media produce," he added.

"We know all the tricks that Western states use with regard to information warfare. We learned a long time ago that there is no such thing as independent media. Only Fox News tries to maintain some kind of alternative view. If you watch other channels, read what goes on in social networks and Internet platforms when the incumbent president is blocked - this kind of censorship continues on a large scale," stressed the head of the foreign ministry.

Speaking of TikTok and other similar platforms, Lavrov noted that Washington is essentially appealing to children because it is used by very young boys and girls. "This is the intention to brainwash them for life, it seems to me that this is unfair and undignified. If you want to engage in information competition, if you want to create information competition between the media, there must be some rules," the minister pointed out.
