Media: Russia's "isolation" is true for the West, but not for the rest of the world

18 August 2022

The statement that Russia is allegedly "isolated" due to the situation around Ukraine, which is heard in a number of media outlets, may be true only for the West but not for the rest of the world, El País, a Spanish newspaper, stated on Thursday.

According to the newspaper, in the Arab world, most governments, including some traditional allies of Washington, have a complex position on the conflict in Ukraine. The newspaper writes of indifference in the Arab states and of the fact that the social networks are dominated by the position favoring Moscow's point of view.

According to El País, in a survey conducted for the Arab News newspaper in 14 Arab countries, it was found that the vast majority of respondents - 66% - did not express any sympathy for either Russia or Ukraine. At the same time, 25% of those polled named NATO as the culprit of the conflict.
