Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is scheduled to visit Tehran on Tuesday for discussions with representatives of the Islamic Republic's Armed Forces Command, including his counterpart Mohammad Reza Ashtiyani.
The agenda is expected to cover regional developments and bilateral defense relations.
The visit was initiated when Iranian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Mohammad Bagheri extended an invitation to Shoigu during a previous telephone conversation on June 28.
During that conversation, the two officials discussed international and regional security matters and expressed their commitment to enhancing dialogue and cooperation in the defense sector.
