The leader of the US-backed counterrevolutionary opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, Maryam Rajavi, has admitted to organizing the recent riots in Iran. This was reported Thursday by the Tasnim news agency, citing information posted by Rajavi on her official website.
"This movement [riots] is well organized by the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran using insurgent centers," Rajavi was quoted by the agency as saying. - "[We see] the National Council of Resistance of Iran that we created as an alternative to the current regime."
Hours later, Rajavi's remarks were removed from her website.
IRNA reported that Rajavi, who had previously identified herself as the "president of Iran's National Council of Resistance," stated on social media that she was "claiming the post of president of the country during the transitional period." Maryam Rajavi and her husband Masoud Rajavi, according to the agency, are responsible for the deaths of 17 thousand innocent Iranians.
Masoud Rajavi is the founder of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran. This organization in 1980s waged an armed struggle against the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the country and carried out terrorist acts. Later the group settled in France and the US, during the reign of Saddam Hussein, it operated from the territory of Iraq and was used in the war against Iran. It was deemed a terrorist group not only in Iran but also in the West, but then the US and UK removed it from their black lists. The group openly declares its goal to overthrow the current Iranian government.
Unrest in Iran began on September 16 after the funeral of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. According to the official version, the police detained Amini for improperly wearing a headscarf. During the interrogation, she had a heart attack, which caused her death. On social media, however, it was reported that Amini had been beaten by the police. On October 7, the Iranian Forensic Medical Organization published an official report on the girl's death, which stated that she had not been injured.
