13 June 2023

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed the government members to monitor the implementation of the agreements reached at a meeting of the intergovernmental council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the CIS last week in Sochi. He assured that Russia would do its best to develop cooperation with the friendly countries.

"We appreciate the good relations, which connect Russia with our Eurasian neighbors, with all the friendly countries, and we should support them in every way possible. I am sure that together we will cope with all the challenges that arise," Mishustin said at the cabinet meeting. He stressed that "the ideas and proposals expressed during the Sochi events should be carefully studied and taken into account in the work, the agreements will certainly be implemented." The prime minister instructed the deputy prime minister to take into account the ideas and proposals expressed at the Sochi events, the agreements will certainly be implemented.

Mishustin reminded that President Vladimir Putin has identified expansion of foreign economic cooperation with promising partners from friendly countries as one of the key tasks for 2023. The chairman of the government reminded that last week several EEU and CIS events were held in Sochi. He highlighted the exhibition "Eurasia - our common home," which demonstrated projects revealing the common industrial potential of friendly countries to Russia. "Our countries are set to continue working together, it was the opinion of all chairmen of the governments, all colleagues are ready to develop new directions to achieve technological, economic, financial sovereignty and to improve the quality of life of citizens," pointed out the head of the Russian cabinet.

Legal framework

Among the decisions taken he mentioned the creation of a legal framework for free trade in services and expansion of investments in the CIS. According to Mishustin, the signed agreement "creates additional incentives to attract capital and create jobs, as trade in services becomes a new driver of economic growth."

"All EEU partners are seriously interested in deepening further integration, and together we will continue to take measures to develop our cooperation, to implement promising initiatives," Mishustin noted. In his view, "the most interesting opportunities are opening up in achieving technological and financial independence, in the digital sphere, in the optimization of transport and logistics chains, in climate regulation. "We will do everything necessary for the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor," the Russian prime minister assured.

According to his assessment, "an important step was the adoption of an agreement on mutual recognition of documents on academic degrees in the states of 'five', their holders will be able to work in the territory of the union without going through excessive bureaucratic procedures." "This creates excellent conditions for the exchange of qualified personnel for all countries of the 'five'",  said the chairman of the Russian government.
