Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin congratulated Ravil Gaynutdin, head of the Religious Board of Muslims (DUM RF) of the Russian Federation and chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia, on Uraza Bayram, noting the role of the Muslim ummah in consolidation of Russian society and patriotic education of youth.
"The Muslim ummah takes an active part in the life of the country and plays an important role in the consolidation of Russian society. It does much to preserve the spiritual and moral values and original culture and to recreate the national Islamic theological school. Thanks to you, it develops constructive cooperation with state authorities in various spheres and implements relevant humanitarian initiatives. Of course, a lot of work on patriotic education of youth is conducted," the prime minister said in a congratulatory message posted on the website of the DUM RF on Friday.
Mishustin stressed that Russia, a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional state, has an unwavering respect for the faiths of the peoples, and Islam is one of the traditional religions and an integral part of the country's historical heritage.
The holy month of Ramadan is a time of spiritual purification and self-improvement, consolidation of faith, mercy and forgiveness for believers, Mishustin added. He wished the mufti and all Russian Muslims peace, prosperity, health and family well-being. "May the holiday bring warmth and joy," he concluded.
