Motorcycle race on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory will be held in Beirut on May 9

A symbolic motorcycle race of bikers with St. George ribbons, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in World War II, will be held on May 9 along the Beirut embankment of Ramlet-el-Beida. 


TASS reports with reference to the head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Lebanon, Vadim Zaychikov.


“The authorities of the capital allowed 20 Lebanese bikers to take part in the festive march. Motorcyclists will start from the building of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) on Verdun Street and make a circle along the embankment, their march will take place to the songs of the war years, ”the agency’s interlocutor said.


In addition, according to Zaychikov, hundreds of compatriots from Russian-Lebanese families this year will take part in the world procession of the “Immortal Regiment”, which will be held in an online format.


“We planned to hold public festivities on May 9 in the square in front of the UNESCO Palace, but this event had to be canceled due to the measures taken by the authorities against the coronavirus,” he said.


Also, at the initiative of compatriots in Beirut, the publication of the book “Immortal Regiment in Lebanon” is planned by June 22. The book is about the descendants of the Great Patriotic War veterans living in the country.


“This book will become part of the large-scale project“ The Road of Memory ”, which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Its electronic version in Russian and Arabic is almost ready, and we are waiting for publishing houses to open in Lebanon after the quarantine is lifted, ”said Vadim Zaichikov.
