Terrorist groups in Afghanistan are still being financed from abroad and are actively using social media to recruit fighters, said Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, during a Security Council meeting on the situation in Afghanistan.
“Militants are strengthening their influence, carrying out new attacks, with religious and ethnic minorities, including women and children, among the victims,” Nebenzia emphasized. “Their goals remain unchanged: to destabilize Afghanistan and the region as a whole.”
He also highlighted the ongoing threat posed by weapons left behind by Western forces, which could fall into the hands of terrorists and pose a security risk beyond the region.
