Nursultan Nazarbayev has the coronavirus

First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was infected with the coronavirus, a message posted on his website reads.

 

At the same time, it is noted that there is no cause for concern, he continues to work remotely.

 

The state of emergency in connection with the spread of coronavirus was in effect in Kazakhstan from March 16 to May 11, but quarantine measures are still in place in various regions of the Republic. In the Republic, 15,877 cases of the coronavirus infection were detected, 9,902 people recovered, and 100 died.

 

Nazarbayev, who led Kazakhstan for almost 30 years, resigned as head of state on March 19, 2019. At the same time, he retained the posts of Chairman of the Security Council of the Republic, the ruling party "Nur Otan" ("Light of the Fatherland"), the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, a member of the Constitutional Council, and has the status of an honorary Senator.



Mishustin wished recovery to Nazarbayev


Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in a conversation with his Kazakh counterpart wished a speedy recovery to the first President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, who was diagnosed with the coronavirus, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic reported.

 

"Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. The parties discussed the state and prospects of the Kazakh-Russian bilateral cooperation in trade and economics, fuel and energy, transport, investment and other spheres, as well as topical issues of interaction within the framework of the EEU," the message on the website of the government of Kazakhstan reads.



The Cabinet of Ministers noted that special attention was paid to joint measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. "The head of the Russian government sent to the first President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy (Leader of the nation-ed.) Nursultan Nazarbayev warm words of support and wishes for a speedy recovery, " the message reads.
