Oman calls on all parties to the Ukrainian conflict to stick to the path of a peaceful settlement, Foreign Minister of Oman Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamood Al Busaidi said on Wednesday at a press conference following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"As for our position on the Ukrainian events, we perceive with pain in our hearts what is happening. An escalation of tensions is fraught with disturbing situations for the whole world. We proceed from the premise that it is necessary to prevent such a scenario from developing. We urge all parties to stick to the path of peaceful resolution and to find peaceful solutions through negotiations," he said.
The head of the foreign ministry of Oman stressed that direct dialogue is the best way to resolve regional conflicts. "In regional plots, Oman maintains a firm line of not blaming any of the parties involved in certain conflict situations. I don't think this will contribute to conflict resolution," the minister added.
The head of the diplomatic mission in Oman expressed his conviction that "in international relations, finding someone to blame does not solve the problem." "What solves the problems is the means of direct negotiations, discussion and convergence of positions on the most difficult issues," he stated.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to an appeal for help from the leaders of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow's plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories; the goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country.
