Palestine to Submit Request to Join BRICS After Kazan Summit

26 August

Palestine plans to submit a request to join BRICS following the October summit in Kazan, where one of the sessions is expected to focus on the situation in Gaza, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal said during a press conference.

“After our initial participation in the summit, we will submit a formal request to join this association. President Vladimir Putin has promised that a session will be entirely dedicated to Palestine, so we have very positive expectations for this summit,” Nofal stated.

The ambassador emphasized that the invitation extended to Palestine for this summit is a “positive message” and a sign of support for the Palestinian people. “This invitation shows that despite all the crimes, killings, and destruction in the Gaza Strip, our message is clear: Palestine still wants to live and to develop,” Nofal concluded.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to attend the BRICS summit, which will take place in Kazan this October.
