Patrushev: Russia Views Cooperation with Africa as Cornerstone of Multipolarity

27 September 2023

Russia views its cooperation with Africa as a cornerstone of the emerging multipolar world and is committed to expanding these relationships, stated Russian Security Council (SC) Secretary Nikolai Patrushev during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

"We believe that it is in our mutual interest to foster the Russia-Africa partnership as a fundamental element of the emerging multipolar world and an equitable international relations system," Patrushev stated, as reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

"The transformation of BRICS into a global organization is of significant importance, and we have high expectations for its continued development," Patrushev remarked. He also noted that Egypt's upcoming membership in BRICS, officially commencing on January 1, 2024, is eagerly anticipated by Moscow. "We reiterate our readiness to offer Egypt the support required for its seamless integration into BRICS. We anticipate that Egypt will be well-represented at all Russian-hosted events, including the gathering of high-ranking BRICS representatives responsible for security matters," Patrushev emphasized.
