Patrushev said that history should not be falsified

The memory of the immortal feat of millions of participants in the Great Patriotic War requires that history should not be falsified to please those who want to belittle Russia's role in the world, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev wrote in "Argumenty and Fakty" on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Victory.

"The victory in that war was forged by heroic soldiers and home front toilers, who bore the brunt of the ordeal. Monstrous misery and suffering befell those who were captured and occupied, those who martyred but did not surrender to the enemy. The unity of the people has increased the strength of our weapons, " RIA Novosti quoted the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation as saying.

Today, according to Patrushev, there are few participants and eyewitnesses of the events of those tragic years.

"And this dictates our sacred duty to protect the ideals that our fathers and grandfathers fought for," he stressed.

At the same time, in the age of the Internet, the materials of "Western historians-disparagers with a perverse interpretation of facts and brazen fiction filled the information space."

"Indoctrination has already given its results - many in Japan and other countries do not know who made the decision, gave the order and carried out the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They were taught that it was the United States that ensured the defeat of German fascism and Japanese militarism, and Russia should repent for inciting the Second world war along with Hitler's Germany. The criminal Munich conspiracy and the Anglo-Saxon concentration camps are hushed up. They ignore the real events on Mamayev Kurgan, the tragedies of the besieged Leningrad, Babi Yar, Khatyn, the horrors of Auschwitz, " Patrushev added.

For the "modern Western elite, lying about the war", he said, is "a tool for belittling Russia's role in the world, as well as a strategic line aimed at destroying the multilateral architecture of collective security that has developed as a result of the war."

There are calls to review the results of the Nuremberg process and redraw the political map of the world. At the same time, the opposition to outright falsification of historical facts is called disinformation and interference in the activities of independent media, as well as harassment of freedom of speech in literature and cinema.

"I am convinced that defending the right to self-expression should not serve as a screen for manipulating people and a cover for legal impunity. Only documents and scientifically proven facts of the past will not allow the virus of global lies to spread, poisoning the atmosphere of already fragile stability in the world… Justice demands that history not be falsified in memory of the immortal feat of millions of soldiers and home front workers. Their devotion to the Fatherland will always serve as a shining example of loyalty to duty and the highest moral reference point for all future generations," the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation stressed.
