The spokesperson for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov explained that Moscow accepted Azerbaijan's apology for the shooting down of the Russian helicopter because the apology was made very quickly.
"It's really a tragedy, it's a tragedy, two of our soldiers died, it's pain for all our commanders and all our people who serve in the armed forces, and for all the citizens," the representative of the Kremlin said in an interview with RT TV channel, speaking about a Russian helicopter shot down by Azerbaijani forces in the sky over Armenia.
"The instantaneous reaction of the Azerbaijanis, the instantaneous reaction of the President of Azerbaijan and the declared readiness of Azerbaijan to conduct an impartial investigation of the circumstances and punish the guilty allowed accepting this apology," Peskov explained.
Russian Mi-24 helicopter was shot down over Armenia near the border with Azerbaijan on November 9. Two crew members were killed and another was wounded. Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry admitted that the helicopter was shot down by armed forces of the republic by mistake and stated that Baku was ready to pay compensation to Moscow.
